Grown on plateaus over 5000 feet, this small bean varietal is an exciting medium-bodied coffee with a complex flavor of floral, berry and chocolate undertones. Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee, and Yirgacheffe is the town where this particular coffee is grown. Legend has it that in 850 A.D. a young goat herder saw how his flock acted after eating the red berries from a strange tree. When he sampled the berries he felt a surge of energy and told everybody back in his village. This marked the beginning of the world coffee craze.
